Hello Kitty MMORPG Goes Beta

Sanrio Digital’s “Hello Kitty Online” accepting players for closed beta

Hong Kong – February 12, 2008: Sanrio Digital (www.sanriodigital.com) today announced the closed beta launch of “Hello Kitty Online”, a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) based on the famous Sanrio characters. Hello Kitty Online allows players to explore and adventure in Sanrio’s fantasy world, a magical land that has recently fallen under the influence of a mysterious and malevolent power.

Players for the closed beta version are invited to apply at the official game site (www.hellokittyonline.com) or community site (www.sanriotown.com) and experience Hello Kitty Online in advance of the game release expected in the second half of 2008. Targeting female players from their pre-teens to twenties, Hello Kitty Online is the first installable MMORPG to set its sights on this demographic profile.

Hello Kitty Online is fully integrated with official Sanrio portal SanrioTown.com, which utilizes blogs, email, video sharing, Sanrio merchandise sales and more to create a digital and social experience accessible at any time. Players of Hello Kitty Online can extend their game experience on SanrioTown.com by interacting with other players, purchasing upgrades for their in-game characters, etc.

Hello Kitty Online Game

In addition to the standard MMORPG features such as customizable avatars, guilds, skill systems, and player economy, some of the outstanding Hello Kitty Online features include:

  • Unique game world: a persistent, beautifully designed environment where thousands of players and NPCs live, explore and quest in a magical world with real and imaginary zones such as the Flower Kingdom, Tokyo, Paris, Moscow, and more. Real world locations offer players the ability to learn about those places.

  • Unique NPCs: players will encounter and interact with popular Sanrio characters such as Hello Kitty, Badtz-Maru, My Melody, Keroppi, and many others, all animated with a variety of contextual facial expressions.

  • Free to play: Hello Kitty Online is downloaded and played free of charge. There are no subscription fees.

  • Character upgrades: the Item Mall allows players to use real money to purchase special items and upgrades for characters.

  • Player housing: players can build and customize their own houses after acquiring the necessary licenses and materials. Houses depreciate over time and need to be maintained properly or will fall in disuse. A homeowner can invite someone to visit by making an in-game telephone call, and the player called will automatically be transported to the house if she agrees.

  • Crafting system: Hello Kitty Online has an extensive crafting system with output such as tools & weapons, farming implements & furniture, a wide variety of cooked dishes, and clothing for decorative and stat-modifying items. Raw materials include wood, minerals and metals, and crops.

  • Farming: players can run their own farms, which offer extra storage room and have the potential to produce important raw materials. The farming system incorporates a number of variables such as fertility, pest infestations, and crop characteristics.

  • A different focus: although it has a sophisticated combat system, unlike other MMORPGs combat need not be a primary objective for players of Hello Kitty Online. There are many puzzles to be solved, mini-games to compete in, story lines to follow, and adventures to experience.

Focus on: Pochacco Crazy Marbles

< of out him get to you needs he and sides, all from Pochacco on in closing are Marbles .Help!>

Pochacco Crazy Marble

What you need to do is to get at least three consecutive marbles of the same color together. You can grab the top one (or ones, if they’re of the same color) and then throw it to whichever vent you want it to go to. Select which side you’re going to take a marble from using the arrow keys. You can release it by again pressing which directional button you want it to go to. The marbles won’t wait for you, though, because these will continue to keep coming at Pochacco until they reach him; at which point, the game ends.

Pochacco Crazy Marbles

There are special marbles that will aid you and Pochacco, and these can be easily seen, as they look slightly different from the normal ones. Activate these by again placing them with at least two other marbles of the same color. Depending on the marble that you get, any one of these might happen: all marbles will be cleared, marbles from that row will automatically disappear, or the marbles will stop moving for a few moments.

In either case, the player must keep the pineapple from falling by tossing it over to the other side of the net, er, stick. S/he can move left or right, or even jump by pressing the corresponding button. If the pineapple falls on the ground while it’s on your side, a point will automatically be given to your opponent.

Save the pineapple, win the game. Most of all, have fun playing!

Focus on: Under Construction

XO Construction

Looks like Badtz Maru’s got some construction jobs to do! Be his engineering partner and help him cover the construction sites by pushing the sandpiles over these.

XO Construction
Move these using the arrow keys. You can walk over these construction sites. However, once you’ve covered these already (as shown by two wooden planks forming an “X” over the holes), you cannot do so anymore, so careful planning and strategizing are needed so that you’ll be able to complete the task.

XO Construction

Once you’re done with the current screen, another, more difficult map will show up for you to solve. Your score is determined by the number of moves you make for each puzzle, so try and finish it in as few keystrokes as possible.

Focus on: Sudoku

Dust off your numbers and logic hat, because Sudoku has invaded SanrioTown!

SanrioTown Sudoku

One of the most popular games for the past few years, the game is more involved with logic than with mathematical or arithmetic skills. Contrary to popular belief, the game actually did not originate from Japan. Instead, it was invented by American Howard Garns in 1979, dubbing his creation “Number Place.” A few years later, it became a hit in Japan, re-named as Sudoku, which eventually stuck.

Sudoku Easy

“Sudoku” means “single number” or “the digits must only ocur once,” and that is exactly the objective of a person playing the game. The aim of the puzzle is to assign numbers 1-9 per box/subdivision (the smaller boxes), completing all nine numerals. However, the catch is that each line should also have a complete 1-9 assignation, and all the while, the player has to ensure that no two numbers occur on the same line or box at the same time.

Sudoku Medium

SanrioTown’s sudoku comes in three levels of difficulty, of which players can choose from based on their ability/experience with the game. Beginners can start with “Easy,” intermediate users can go with “Medium,” and experts can play the puzzle under the “Tough” category.

Sudoku Tough

The puzzles change every day, so if you want a daily dose of brain exercise, the SanrioTown Sudoku games are the way to go! All you need is your SanrioTown account, and you’re good to go. Proceed to the Games section and go to the Puzzle Games. If you don’t have one yet, be sure to get one now by clicking here, or go to http://www.sanriotown.com. Don’t worry, it’s free.:D

Focus on: Kitty Puzzle

Jigsaw puzzles are no longer limited to cardboard pieces. Play the SanrioTown Kitty Puzzle and get the chance to assemble at least one of the puzzles there.

Kitty Puzzle feat. Little Twin Stars

As can be seen in the images, the puzzles aren’t limited to designs that feature Hello Kitty. Instead, other characters like the Little Twin Stars, My Melody, and Cinnamoroll can be seen and played with. Every time you load the game, a different pattern can potentially appear to give you new challenges.

Kitty Puzzle feat. Cinnamoroll

Another twist of the game is that it’s time-limited, which means that you have to put the pieces together within a specific number of seconds, otherwise, you’ll lose the game. Don’t worry though, the time that is provided is more than enough for you to piece together the design.

Kitty Puzzle feat. My Melody

If you finish the puzzle quickly, you may get the chance to be included in the Top Players list of the game. In fact, trying to beat the scores there could be an extra challenge for you!

Play the game by signing in to your SanrioTown account. For those who don’t have one yet, you can go to http://mail.sanriotown.com/templates/common/us/username.htm or click any of the images above. The account’s free, and you get to enjoy the other services of the official online community of Sanrio as well.:)
